Unsolved Appalachia is a website dedicated to detailing missing and unidentified persons as well as unsolved murders of the Appalachian region of the United States.

My interest in this particular niche began when I was around 10 years old.

One night a man went missing under strange circumstances, and of course like anyone in the early 90’s I was hooked on Robert Stack (Unsolved Mysteries of course) so that, only helped to emblazon my curiosity.

Years would march on, and I would always find room to indulge my fascination with the macabre, whether it be through television shows, articles…more years and we were on to the Unresolved Mysteries Reddit forum, and YouTube is always a good source of videos regarding the missing, murdered, and unidentified.

I discovered the Charley Project and NamUs, the Doe Network.

I saw that on many of these websites, states could be singled out so that you could view results only in that particular area. I saw that there were so many around me that I’d never even heard of. People who had vanished and been forgotten.

I couldn’t let that happen.

I knew I had absolutely no authority, but I also knew that I had the desire to do SOMETHING.

So I started to write, and whenever I could, reach out to those that felt comfortable telling me their stories.
