On November 1, 1966, 38-year-old Juanita stepped out of her home in Dwarf, Ky to walk to the grocery store. That was the last time she was ever seen. Her family didn’t report her missing until around a week later. As far as the family can remember, there was never an actual investigation conducted at the time of her disappearance.
In 1993, however, the police received an anonymous letter claiming the author knew who had killed Juanita. It was allegedly a rape attempt, that ended in murder. Police didn’t consider the letter as credible evidence, so nothing happened.
In 2012, Juanita’s brother got a phone call. A lady claiming she knew the location of Juanita’s body. She told him the whereabouts of a specific well in Rowdy, Ky. This time, the police acted and had the well pumped. Nothing was found, as the water was emptied, and the hazardous condition of the well made officers decide against sending anyone down into the depths to investigate.
Later, Juanita’s brother had the well pumped once again, at his own expense. He said there was a slab of concrete at the bottom…
Thankfully, her case was officially reopened in 2012, with detectives actively seeking after leads… To this day though, no charges have been filed. The person the family believes is responsible is deceased. At this point though, all they want is to locate their sisters remains so they can give her a proper burial.
